As an interior designer, I often feel that my gift is a luxury and something that is too often...all about stuff. I recognize that God was very detailed and is the master of great design and know that this is what He wants for me. I have always wanted to find a way to use my gift in a way that gives back. When Forest Hill asked us to give to Invisible Children, I thought in this economy it is tough to make ends meet let alone give anything additional. With God nudging at my heart, I have found a way to use my gift and serve at the same time. On my days off I offer my services to people who need to redesign or reorganize their space on a smaller scale than what I offer through my design business. In return, I ask them to pay an hourly fee to Invisible Children through my facebook account. It is a win for all of us. My talents are being used in a way that glorifies Gods kingdom, and people get a more comfortable home in the process of giving.

There is a local organization based in Mint Hill that is trying to help place and integrate Nepali Refugees into the community and help them find jobs. They are all brought here legally, with this organization helping them obtain visas. If you know of any companies that may be willing to help or give them a chance or to just learn more, please visit: http://thenepalproject.org/
